Coat of Arms

CoatOfArmsThe Lord Lyon King of Arms granted a Coat of Arms to the Gullane Area Community Council in 2000, providing an heraldic representation of our four communities. Dirleton Castle and Aberlady Mercat Cross indicate the medieval origins of the two communities. The train wheel and wings point to how the railway fueled 19th century growth and the air defence role Drem Airfield played in the two world wars. Finally, golf clubs and balls symbolise the importance of golf to the area, many of our first-rate golf courses regularly feature in listings of the world’s finest courses.
