We are an elected, non-party political organisation. We exist to represent your views on your local community to East Lothian Council and other public authorities, such as the police and health authorities. In other words, since we are close to the people of our local communities we are a ‘pressure group’ which can bring matters directly to the attention of local government and other authorities. However, we have a direct line to the authorities. Because we have no ‘power’, we are only effective to the extent that we are in close touch with local opinion. And only if people make sure they pass on their views and suggestions to the Community Council.

Community Council meetings are open to the public and held the last Thursday of each month, except December. Minutes and agendas are posted on notice boards, held in the library and available from this website. The community council can be contacted through this website, by writing to us, or by contacting individual councillors.
