The Mallard Hotel, Gullane
Update as at 8th May
There is an article in this week’s Courier (7 May) about the proposed demolition of the Mallard Hotel. Anyone who feels strongly about this either way is invited to submit a representation about the relevant Conservation Area Consent application – reference 20/00394/CAC – to East Lothian Council by email to email@example.com or by post to them at John Muir House, Haddington. They will consider this application separately from, and regardless of anything previously submitted in connection with, the previous application to build a new hotel.
As you may be aware, following the public exhibition and consultation at the Mallard Hotel on 28 November, the developers’ planning consultant has now lodged a planning application for the demolition of the present hotel and the development of a new, larger, hotel on the site, which will contain restaurant accommodation for 70 people, bar seating for a similar number, 25 bedrooms and spa facilities. It will include on site parking capacity for 15 cars and provision for vehicular access on East Links Road and vehicular access and egress on Hamilton Crescent. The planning application and supporting documents can be accessed via the East Lothian Council planning portal at
https://pa.eastlothian.gov.uk/online-applications/search.do?action=simple&searchType=Application using the reference 19/01325/P. The community council is presently assessing the application and would be pleased to hear from residents and other interested parties with their views. These should be sent to us by email at firstname.lastname@example.org to reach us by 5 pm on Friday 10 April. You may wish to make your own representations to the Council. These should be sent to them by email at email@example.com or by letter addressed to them at John Muir House, Brewery Lane, Haddington, EH41 3HA, to reach them by the deadline of Friday 24 April.
